Tell us about your early roots in your practice of choice.
I’m a dancer at heart. I studied ballroom dancing in Poland for 10 years and won the Latin American ballroom dancing championship, twice. In my freshman year at college, my professor told the class that none of us should count on dance jobs alone, so I began practicing and teaching Pilates as a way to sustain my real passion for dance. At the end of the day, we all ended up getting dance jobs - and now I love Pilates!
What inspires you in your practice?
I’m inspired by helping our members improve in their practice, connect mind to body, find proper form, and eventually learn to teach themselves, which is the goal.
What are valuable lessons learned from your training?
I’m learning that increased rigor in practice translates into greater discipline in daily life; as I get better at fine-tuning my physical muscles and movements, I get better at controlling my thoughts, behaviors, and habits. It fascinates me that the physical practices of the body can impact the intellectual and emotional practices of the mind and spirit.

What does social wellness mean to you?
Social wellness in practice is seeing my clients connect over their shared experience of taking class together. It always makes me feel good to see members bond over their struggles and triumphs in class.
