“My days playing football empowered me to face adversity and adjust to sudden change with grace. With football, as with life, there will never be a perfect game, and it’s all about how you can adjust and stay poised under pressure.”
Tell us about your early roots in your practice of choice.
I first got started in group fitness 8 years ago. I had begged the studio manager at the time to give me a chance to teach and she denied me, so I volunteered to teach for free to prove myself. I built my first class up to 40 people just to get an audition and eventually was given 20 classes a week. That’s how I earned a name for myself in the company.
What inspires you in your practice?
I’m inspired by the evolution of the industry and learning to create a dynamic, fun way to improve health & wellness through movement. I'm always driven to innovate and work with a purpose, so I commit daily to focusing on improving at least one daily habit to become better as a coach.
What are valuable lessons learned from your training?
My days playing football empowered me to face adversity and adjust to sudden change with grace. With football, as with life, there will never be a perfect game and it’s all about how you can adjust and stay poised under pressure.
What are some other classes you enjoy at Rise?
I’m excited to try our FIGHT classes. Boxing is my next favorite practice, after sports performance.
What does social wellness mean to you?
For me, social wellness is about improving myself within the context of a greater community. I think improving physically, mentally, and emotionally in a social environment has the two-fold effect of helping both myself and others.
